Hi Bob,
there are a lot of aftermarket handlebargrips, I guess a lot
more over at your place than here in Germany.
The way to replace the old ones is described in the tips & tricks
section in Berts page.
I have replaced mine as well, put some soft rubber ones on. A lot better than
the original ones. Always had problems with my left hand due to the vibrations
the bike has. Now its a little better.
You don't have to cut off the old ones if you want to keep them,just get some soap
water under the handlebars to strip them off. If you use grease or
vaseline or anything else just be sure to get it off again completely before putting
the new ones on. DO NOT! use this stuff to get the new ones on, only soap water.
